Dr. Champagne received a B.A. degree in Biology from Washington University in St. Louis (1991) and his M.D. from Rush University in Chicago (1995). He completed his residency training in anatomic and clinical pathology at Emory University School of Medicine (1995-1997) and Northwestern University McGaw Medical Center (1997-2000).

Dr. Champagne had special training in cytopathology and surgical pathology in his final year of residency and is a diplomate of The American Board of Pathology. After his residency, he practiced pathology at Genesis Clinical Laboratory and MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn, Illinois, where he served as the Director of the Microbiology Laboratory (2000-2003). Dr. Champagne joined PTPG in July 2003. He is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor of Pathology at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria, as well as Laboratory Director at both Graham Hospital & Mason District Hospital.
